This week we finished knocking down the wall completely on one side.It is sooooo messy.I spent the whole week cleaning up the rest of the house from the dust that traveled!!!! This week we will have to clean up the plaster(luckily all I have to do is close a door and not see the mess). It is getting harder to find extra time to do this renovating. We have had a busy month with other commitments and next month we have two weekend trips planned already. Then start the holidays!!!! Two bad this won"t be finished before the holidays!!! I really do not want to rush because all our other projects seemed like we were on a certain time schedule. Here are current photos!!!

Tearing down the wall!!!!!
We have been talking about opening up a wall for a while now!!!!! The room is a small bedroom on the main floor and it is my favorite room of all!!! We put in a tin ceiling the year after we bought the house since there was a hole in the ceiling and we needed to replace it. This is a very major project, vents will have to be moved and water pipes and electric (we just installed this year). We will install my Victorian style french doors and the room will open up to the dining room which has our soapstone wood burning stove. It will open up our main level and visually will make it larger. I am very excited and nervous at the same time!!!!! Today I was talking with hubby about not putting the doors it just seemed impossible with all the things that have become obstacles.I told him I felt depressed about it.Then he came down a few minutes later and told me he had something to cheer me!!!!
I heard banging and saw that he started tearing out the wall for my doors!!!!! It was a blast since my younger boys started to help!!!!

Crafty projects
I have been looking for a curtain for my front door.Even though the door has a small window,I feel like there is a lack of privacy.People at my door try to look in to see if any one is coming to the door or if anyone is home!!!!! We also live on a busy street and people tend to go door to door to sell items.I have a enclosed porch and I try to lock the door if i am not expecting anyone but sometimes I forget and am over unknown people stopping by!!!!! Our next house will be somewhere away from city life!!!LOL!!! But for now I am blocking the view!!!! I made this curtain myself ,I am still looking for trim to add on the bottom.

Feng Shui
I have been reviewing my feng shui books. With the economy the way it is,we can all use some help!!!! Most of the main floor has been de-cluttered.I have read in the books and online that a red door is very lucky and welcoming .So I finally did it!! I painted our front door red!! I love it!!! I think our luck has changed, the day before I painted I commented to someone I know at Jazzercise that I liked her bag.She said she won it.The day I painted the door I went to class and the lady came up to me and said I should have her bag and gave it to me!!!!! I'd say that was good feng shui!!!!!

Leaky pipes
Yikes!!!! We had a leak !!!! We discovered Monday our bathtub was leaking into our sons room (their room is directly under the bathroom). We had to cancel our day trip to Chicago and head to Menards. At first hubby thought it was just the drain leaking when he took it apart so we went to Menard's and bought a new drain stop But of course after changing it out and more leaking water he saw a cracked part of a pipe.Another trip to Menard's and finally it is fixed!!!!!

The Big Reveal!!!!

I have had my Victorian sofa home for a month now and we had it in the living room waiting for a wall to be fixed. I had to temporarily put the sofa by my huge picture window w/ the drapes closed because we get so much sun there and I was warned of the sofa fading. I am excited the wall is finally done!!!! I didn't want to post pictures until I found the perfect pillows but who knows when that will be!!!! LOL This sofa was my xmas present and the reupholstering was my anniversary present!!! I always ask for furniture for presents!!!!! Here are before and after.....

Patching up walls!!!
I haven't posted about my sofa being home yet because we had to patch the wall where it will end up. When we rewired the living room we had to "pull" out the old wires and in some areas we had to break open the wall because the wires were not easy to switch. So I ended up with a huge hole on the wall where the Victorian sofa would go. Another messy project!!!!!! Luckily it is now finished .Here are before and afters!!!
