Cowhide rug

I finally found a cowhide rug that was a really great price!!!! I was walking the other week in our downtown and saw the cowhide rug folded up in an antique store window.The day I saw it the store was closed so I didn't know how much it was going for or how big it was. I kept talking about it but never went to see what the hours were at the store and finally I was coloring a friends hair and asked about the owner of the store.I knew he knew the owner and he called him up and asked about the cowhide.So we agreed on a price and now it is mine!!!!!! I got it this Sat. I am beyond excited since I have been looking for one for soooo long. I am playing around with where it will end up.I would love it on the floor in the living room but I have a small dog that I am afraid would ruin it.For now I have it draped over our new modern sofa.Our house has an artistic ecletic look so I think it would work.Here are photos of the different looks. The photos with the sofa covered with throws and pillows is how I keep the sofa covered daily because of the dogs!!!!

Julian's party

We finally had Julian's birthday party!!!!! It was a small affair but fun was had by all!!!! My good friend Maureen came and stayed for the weekend so that was great.It has been a while since she has been here and luckily we have a brand new sofa that is comfy to sleep on.It is not an antique,it is actually modern but it blends nicely with the victorian sofa( leopard one).I am on the lookout for an antique settee for the otherside of the room.Anyway here are a few photos.

A little paint!!!

I finally had time last week to fill,sand ,and paint the trim around our front door. The whole door needed to be painted as well.I know the trend right now is to paint everything white but I am not a fan.I grew up with parents that only wanted white walls so I have had my share of white!!!! Also in a house full of kids and pets white shows dirt!!!!! I do like white trim and our door was painted white already so I just kept it the same. I love fresh painted surfaces,it makes everything feel so clean and new.I was motivated to repaint since we finally had Julian's bday party( only a month and a half late,lol)!!!! I am now motivated to start on the rest of the house.Here are the before and after photos.We are snowed in so I am finally posting on the blog!!!!

Hello!!!!

Well hello there!!!!! I feel like I haven't posted in decades!!!! I find it hard to post from my ipad and still my laptop is down.On the project front we have done some little things around here!!! We put up new trim around our front door but I still need to spackle and paint.I started painting the bookshelves in our master bedroom but am only half way done.So you see I have done somethings!!!!! I am still not back to normal from the flu but definately getting there.I started a slowwwww workout again but miss my zumba classes and can't wait to get back to that. This new year started out bumpy for us but am hoping to get back to all things I love.....decorating,renovating ,shopping and having fun!!!!

Family vacation

Earlier in the month we went to Gatlinburg,Tenn.About 3 years ago we bought a timeshare at a beautiful resort on a mountain.We finally had a chance to use it!!!!!! Amazingly,we had the time to go!!!!! I was nervous about going ,not knowing what to expect.Was it going to be as nice as the model we were shown,were the kids going to be bored?? We were impressed with the resort !!!! There were activities for the kids(crafts), organized family hikes,bonfire with smores ,also the cool waterpark!!!! The two towns nearby also have alot going on.We went to rest but did alot in a week!!!! This was mid flu for hubby and me so we tried to rest alot.I never believed in the getting the flu shot before but now I am convinced next year we are all getting it.I have been sick for a month and just finally better!!!!! Anyway,here are some photos!!!!!

Julian's Birthday

My baby Julian turned 11 years old on Jan.16th!!!! So hard to believe how time has been flying!!!!! We celebrated the day shopping for some presents but since dad was at work we waited for his big shopping trip to the mall until the weekend. We also are planning a family party for him in a few weeks.Julian and his brother Trent helped make his favorite turkey meatloaf and cornbread for his dinner. He had a blast celebrating his "birthday week"!!!! Here are a few photos...

Hope everyone is well!!!! I am still recouping from the flu!!!!! I am hoping this 2013 will be a great year!!!!On New Years Eve we stayed home and we blessed our house with sage!!!!
