Kitchen

I don't where the time is going!!!!! It feels like it flies by.On Fridays I am usually cleaning the house .We have hair clients come over on Sat. so I really need to get this house together!!!! The kitchen is my main priority ( well actually the whole first floor). I just finished cleaning the kitchen and took some photos. It looks sparkly clean. I love when it looks like this!!!!!! My sinks are shiny and the floor is mopped.Now I am exhausted but have the dining room ,library room and living room to straighten up. Luckily I just need to wipe down the table and sweep and mop the floors. So I am taking a few minutes to rest and then it is back to work.

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to everyone out there. I am posting this late because we have been soooo busy!!!!!! My Mother's Day was really nice .I woke up to a massage from my hubby and then we went shopping!!!!! I found a really cute(large) pink purse at Charming Charlie and a wallet. I also had been telling Trent that I found a beautiful antique silver punch bowl and tray at a store by our home.This store is only open on Thursdays,Fridays and Saturdays so I waited until today to pick it up. I kept praying no one would buy it before I could get there. I have been watching that it was still there for weeks!!! LOL So today I went to pick up my present!!!!! I only wish I would have found this before we had our vintage baby shower in Feb. but we will have it for the next party. It is also an heirloom piece I can pass on to the kids.On Mother's day we had a cook out and my daughter and her son came over. It was nice to spend her first Mother's day with us!!! Our family just keeps growing and getting bigger!!! I have been also working on the outside of our home planting flowers since we had a few warm days although it is back to being cool/cold.Hopefully it will warm up so I can finish planting.I have big plans to put flower beds along our fence.Here are some photos of my Mother'

Project pantry update

We finally started the pantry.My hubby thought we needed to make sure that the ceiling wasn't leaking (since this is technically a covered porch) so he took out a board from the ceiling to see how it looked above.Originally he thought there was mold but luckily there wasn't any!!!!!! We haven't touched it since,we have been so busy every weekend going to Chicago to visit with my dad. He is doing great!!!!!! Every time I see him he is better and better.I also get to see some other family members like my sister while I am there and of course our son so that is always nice.It is really great to have family somewhat nearby.Since the baby was born our time has seemed limited (how did I ever get any thing done with 4 kids,lol!!!! )So we will work on this little but very important room when we can(somehow some men can't see the value in a pantry).I explain to my husband that the pantry will be life transforming!!!!! I will have room to organize our dishes or store the extra food ,I really need this!!!! So for now I am going to post more inspiration photos of the upcoming pantry.

Heart Surgery

Last Friday my dad who is 80 years old had open heart surgery. He has been extremely healthy his whole life and it came as a shock to us that he needed surgery!!!!!! He walks everywhere and is at a very healthy weight so we didn't think too much when he went to the doctor to get his heart checked out. So now he is on the path to recovery.Today Trent and I (along with the boys) will go to visit at his home.My oldest son Tristan lives with him so it will be nice to see him. Tristan loves seeing his little brothers lately.

As a mom it is nice to see all my kids miss each other and ask about what is going on in their lives instead of fighting and getting on each other nerves. I do miss having all my kids at home with us, our house is too quiet sometimes!!!! Since now we have my dads heart issues in our medical history, I have bumped up my workout. I am a work in progress but am determined to live an even healthier lifestyle.I was Jazzercising and doing aerobic home videos before sporadically.Now I am walking/jogging on the treadmill for 60 min. two times a week and still jazzercising once a week( I will start adding yoga into the mix again). I have been eating low carb and now I have started juicing (carrots,apple,kale) again.I also eat more fish which I love!!!!!! Every week hasn't been perfect but I do have different views about health now.I was always dieting/exercising to get skinnier and now I am doing the same but more for my health.A slight shift in perspective.

Photo shoot

The past few days I have been attempting a photo shoot with baby Weston. I pulled out my 35mm camera that has been in my closet for at least 7 years!!!!! I thought we had a great session but when we developed the film(this is an old school camera) there was nothing on it!!!!! So today we tried again and well it was another miss. We had a few turn out but most turned out blurry. Tomorrow we will try again!!! I have two more rolls of film and he can usually only handle his photo taken for short increments. I took some back up photos with my phone using the instagram app.I love that app!!!! At least those turned out!!!LOL!!!!

Pantry

Our next project coming up is turning a small porch that is attached to the kitchen into a pantry!!!!!! It has been a dream of mine to find a spot for a pantry. My husband's grandma had a house about the same age as our home and a very similar style and what I loved about her house was that it had a huge pantry !!!!!! Of course my favorite movie homes of all is the Practical Magic house. I love the swinging door ,the glass cabinets,basically everything!!!!!!! I have been creating this space in my mind for years.Next weekend we start the demo for it!!!!!! I am so excited although with a 100 plus year old house you never know what we will run into. Baby Weston

Baby Weston was born on Monday April 9,2012. Hubby and I are official grandparents!!!!!! We were both there with our daughter Paloma and her fiancé Jake all thru the labor.I was even in the room when Weston was born!!!! We have had a busy week getting to know our grandson.He weighed 8 lbs. 11 oz at birth.
