Halloween Baby Shower

This is breaking news to my blog,we are going to become grandparents again very soon!!!! My oldest son Tristan and his girlfriend Marta are having a baby Oct.10 or so. We wanted to throw them a baby shower and since they live with my dad in Chicago we had the shower at grandpa's house. This is the house that I grew up in.It is a Chicago brick bungalow. Most of the city has versions of these homes. The kids decided we should have a Halloween theme since it will be an October baby and Tristan has always loved Halloween(he trick or treated until he was like 18 with his younger brothers, lol)!! So the boys and I made a lot of the decorations and we bought a lot of different items and used some of our Halloween Stash.I bought a blowup Hello Kitty(at the end of the season last Halloween) to put up in the front of the house. We thought it would look cute for the shower day so everyone would know the "party house". The boys and I went the Friday before and cleaned and rearranged my dad's house and decorated. The party was on a Sunday and we went early to finish the prep work.Chicago,Il is about 1 hour and 40 minutes from Kenosha,Wi(depending on traffic).Luckily we arrived on schedule and the party was a success!!! My friend Maureen made the baby shower cake and the boys and I made cupcakes. One thing I have learned is that it is definitely harder to throw a party at someone else house and in another state!!! I am still recouping and it is 4 days later, lol!!! Here are some photos of the party..

Living Room Preview

So we are down to the wire!!!! The baby shower is 5 days away. We took down hubby's huge weight set that has been in our living room.I LOVE how much bigger the room looks.(I really wish we had a separate work out room)We moved my favorite antique Victorian leopard sofa back in this room. I started putting some decorations up because I will have so many errands to run Friday and Saturday. The room still needs more but for now it is looking how I have imagined.Good news I found a very cute dress at Marshall's last week and the best part is that it only cost $7.00 (yes, that is right!!!!) Now I want to splurge on some new boots and accessories!!! Her is a peek at the living room,

The count down

In ten days we are having the baby shower!!!!! It is going by so fast.I have been busy dusting, rearranging, touch up painting, etc.Just when I think I am done I notice I need to dust again(where does it come from?) Last night my daughter, her friend, and her future mother-in -law came over to help me put together the party favors for the shower. It still seems like I have a million little details left to do.Like everyone else in America we are on a tight budget so I have to be creative where the items I am buying come from. I have been lucky to score some cool items for good prices. Also on my list is buying a dress for me.That could be fun but so far all I have found is on line.I am just worried about ordering and not receiving in time. I am going to try and convince my hubby to go with me to this mall in a different town.I might be able to convince(bribe) him to take me since there is a "Five Guys" hamburger place in the shopping center!!!!! It is his favorite. So today I will be doing more cleaning, laundry and praying I find something cute to wear!!!!!

Pink chair!!!!

The baby shower is approaching fast ( Feb.26) and I have been on the hunt to find some vintage chairs!!!!!! I have been to the thrift store numerous times and found nothing. Finally we went Tuesday (almost the whole family) my hubby, daughter and the two boys tagged along. I was feeling discouraged but at the last store I found one lonely chair. It is sturdy and paintable. My kind of chair!!!!!! So for $3.00 (great price) I bought it and brought it home. I decided to use my favorite pink paint that I already had.So yesterday I painted it by hand. At some point I would love to get my own paint sprayer that I don't have to attach to hubby's air compresser,it would make life easier!!!! I debated stenciling a fleur de lis but could not find my stencil.I will look for it today and if I find it I may add it to the seat. Here are the photos.....

I love how the chair turned out!!!! I saw a pink chevron pillow at Target that would look so cute on it!!!!! I also NEED to find more vintage chairs!!!
