Yesterday hubby had the idea to turn the dining room table to the center of the dining room/study and the parlor room. So we rearranged and so far I love it!!!!! Since we keep our computer on the table I am liking seeing the wood burning stove from this angle !!!! It opened up the space. I also can now enjoy my victorian leopard sofa that I had on the other side of the table. I was trying to hide it from our big dog(Scruffy) but instead I didn't get to enjoy it and he still snuck up on it.I have it covered in a million pillows and throws so I know when he sneaks on,lol!!!! I took some photos to show you the change...
It is giving us more room since it was hard to walk around the table before and the parlor room basically was just wasted space if the kids weren't using their desks. I left their vintage desks so we still do school in both of these combined spaces.

Lighting

I forgot to post that we finally put in a ceiling fan/light in the old dining room.We haven't had a light in there for about 10 months!!!!! It makes such a difference!!!!! Our house is feeling like a real house!!!!! At least without holes in the walls/ceilings, oh wait we just put more holes in our hallway to the basement but that is another story!!!!! Here are the before and after photos .Also we changed the paint color to a deep chocolate brown .

What we have been up to!!!!
We are back to work!!!! We opened up the wall completely from the dining room to the tin ceiling room.We were going to put up my french doors between the two rooms. Now we are going to put them up in the kitchen!!!! (That is the original place I wanted them!!!!) We had help with putting up the header. It was huge and heavy so I called my daughter and her boyfriend to help.It was a long day of work. Trent and I have been working on moving electric and cleaning up all the mess.Today I am re-mopping and dusting again!!!!!! Dust is everywhere. It can be overwhelming but I have do just clean one room at a time!!! I keep visualizing the finished room to keep me going!!!!!!

A lot of drama

A good friend gave me this vintage chalkboard,it came from her son's preschool.I had admired it at her house and one day she said she was getting ready to move and remembered that I really like the chalkboard. So she gave it to us.Now this thing is very very heavy!!!! At first my hubby wasn't sure about mounting it on a wall. I whined and pleaded so he gave in.I had it in the kitchen before and it was really great there.Since we removed part of the wall,I wasn't sure that it looked good in there anymore.I decided to bring it into the dining room. This room is under a makeover. It was a red color before(which I LOVED) but I needed a change so it is now a very peaceful blue.Well, the red chalkboard didn't look quite right so I painted it a dark gray color.I wanted to preserve the vintage feel so I sanded off some paint and let a little of the red come through and then sanded it more to really look worn at the edges.Well,we had so much trouble finding studs in the wall to mount this thing!!!! My husband made so many holes in the wall and I was freaking out about them. Then my son and I had to hold this up while Trent drilled the screws through the wall.It was one of those stressful moments. This chalkboard is over 100 lbs. so it really needs to be secure. Now all this room needs to be complete are my new curtain rods and tile installed in back of the wood burning stove!!!!!

Painting done(for now!!!!)
I am all painted out.But one room leads to another and another and so it goes!!!!!! I actually have to buy more green paint for the living room (I know I have some somewhere but can't find it}I just have touch up spots where little finger prints are .}I also am THINKING about painting my red dining room blue.I think when my new French doors are in it might transition better from the dining room into the kitchen (which is a sage color)Also I bought the tile for in back of the wood burning stove and it is a bluish gray.I probably will wait to paint until the wall is opened up because of the dust.So that is all that is going on.Today I will work on clients and then grocery shop for a birthday party we are having here for My youngest son(who actually turned 6 in Jan. and My daughter who turned 17 last Sunday) With all the snow my husband thought it better to combine the parties so family wouldn't have to keep driving from Chicago and Indiana.Of course it is snowing today but hopefully it won't be a snow blizzard!!!!!
