Handmade Buddha Stencil project

I have had a new project on my mind for a while. This is how my mind works, always thinking up ideas even when we are in the middle of a BIG project(painting the house).I receive Tracy Porter's catalog and there was a gorgeous Tibetan looking furniture piece in it that I fell in love with.It had a price tag in the thousands.Out of our price range but I was determined that I could paint my dresser like the one in the catalog.I had my oldest son cut out a stencil of a buddha (similar to the one in the catalog),I then painted my dresser in a blue color and took gold paint to age and distress it.I bought gold spray paint and sprayed the buddha on the drawers. It came out really cool.We are using the dresser in the living room. It holds all the video games/movies and toys. Here are photos.

New Craigslist find!!!!!

I am soooo excited I found another great Victorian style sofa for our living room!!!! I have been searching all year for a second sofa and thought I found the one but the deal never quite worked out.So finally I found one that wasn't too far from the house (an extra) and it was the right price!!!!! This sofa was at an antique mall so I was really surprised that the dealer gave me a great price!!!!! I will reupholster some day but for now the colors are funky and are the exact colors of my living room. It is a blue and green print .I will post some photos later today or tomorrow .Now my living room is complete!!!!!

The Big Reveal!!!!

I have had my Victorian sofa home for a month now and we had it in the living room waiting for a wall to be fixed. I had to temporarily put the sofa by my huge picture window w/ the drapes closed because we get so much sun there and I was warned of the sofa fading. I am excited the wall is finally done!!!! I didn't want to post pictures until I found the perfect pillows but who knows when that will be!!!! LOL This sofa was my xmas present and the reupholstering was my anniversary present!!! I always ask for furniture for presents!!!!! Here are before and after.....

Patching up walls!!!

I haven't posted about my sofa being home yet because we had to patch the wall where it will end up. When we rewired the living room we had to "pull" out the old wires and in some areas we had to break open the wall because the wires were not easy to switch. So I ended up with a huge hole on the wall where the Victorian sofa would go. Another messy project!!!!!! Luckily it is now finished .Here are before and afters!!!

Love!!!!!

I am in love with my chandelier!!!!!! It is vintage .I bought it from a man in Chicago who ran an electric shop out of his garage years ago.I lived with my parents at the time so I hung it up at their house. I waited patiently until my dad changed out this fixture with another. Then waited some more until we changed out the old electric wiring. It has a home finally!!! I still have no camera so these photos are from my hubbies Iphone!!!!!

The good and the bad!!!!!

We have been working hard these past few weeks. We finished replacing all the electric wiring in the living room.As usual we thought this would be an "easy" room but turned out to be more time consuming than we planned.I have 4 new outlets and a gorgeous antique chandelier installed!!!! I have been waiting for this chandelier for 5 years to be hung in my house!!!! It used to be in my dad's house in Chicago and he brought it over a few months ago.My husband did not want to install it until we rewired the room. I have been patching up the holes in the walls that had to be made( to pull wire) and touch up painting .Now for the bad,my camera is totally dead!!!! I thought it was the internal battery (one I never knew it had until a week ago!!!!) so we replaced it and put the regular batteries in it and still it is not working!!!! UGGGGGHHHH!!!!!!
I have to buy a new camera !!! I did want a new one any way but it will have to wait for a while . In the mean time I will try to have Trent(hubby) take a few pictures with his Iphone!!!!!!

Living room

This is my living room at the moment.I loved how the sun was coming in through the window and shining on my xmas present!!!! Next year I will be reupholstering the Victorian sofa.I would like a chocolate brown velvet to cover it.The last thing to do to this room is to put up my chandelier !!!!!

Living room views

I have been trying to pull this room together for a while.I am waiting for a new leather couch but it will be a while until we buy one.We have been using a futon in the room for now. Last year I decided to throw out the couch,I was over it!!!! I didn't even know when we could buy a new one but I am impulsive like that!!!!! So I have been trying different slip covers and pillows to make it a little more chic!!!! I just bought an ottoman/coffee table and a rug.I remember seeing something similar in a catalog. My rug was a bargain !!! I love when I find things at a good price!!!! Here is a peek!!!!

Painting done(for now!!!!)

I am all painted out.But one room leads to another and another and so it goes!!!!!! I actually have to buy more green paint for the living room (I know I have some somewhere but can't find it}I just have touch up spots where little finger prints are .}I also am THINKING about painting my red dining room blue.I think when my new French doors are in it might transition better from the dining room into the kitchen (which is a sage color)Also I bought the tile for in back of the wood burning stove and it is a bluish gray.I probably will wait to paint until the wall is opened up because of the dust.So that is all that is going on.Today I will work on clients and then grocery shop for a birthday party we are having here for My youngest son(who actually turned 6 in Jan. and My daughter who turned 17 last Sunday) With all the snow my husband thought it better to combine the parties so family wouldn't have to keep driving from Chicago and Indiana.Of course it is snowing today but hopefully it won't be a snow blizzard!!!!!
